I know what you mean. I just recently got my first navy suit after about eight years out, having cut up and resewn my Knoxville colours into a costume a while ago (gasp, a guy with Excel skills?).
Even after all this time, I still had to get one with pinstripes. Couldn't go all the way, I guess.
Ha! How funny. I have bought two navy suits, both pin stripe, since my gig ten or so years ago... but I just can't bring myself to wear a white shirt with them.
I must still be possessed. It's been 14 years and I get nauseated at the thought of wearing a navy skirt and white shirt. I couldn't even do a navy dress... *shudder* Someone should maybe lay hands on me... I keep thinking that if I get one, it would be like a Cabbage Patch doll, and I would never be able to destroy it!
Its been well over 6 years since I got out and I to this day refuse to wear panty hose, closed toe dress shoes, skirts longer than my knees, and ANY variation of navy and white.
I would willing wear a navy/white outfit right about the time that Satan called to complain about unseasonably cold weather, and its been 14 yeas for me as well. hehe
Hmm...I don't think that I could ever wear a navy skirt again--I have problems with a plain old white shirt (can't use the word 'blouse'--it smacks of the old days when I was enveloped in a veritable balloon of white material firmly anchored around my neck by the ubiquitous navy scarf that made me feel like a 70s stewardess).

Call it freedom!
The fact you don't HAVE to gives you the freedom to have one if you want!

I laughed and laughed out loud!
I still avoid navy like the plague - and it's been 24 years since I had to wear it everyday (and all the connotations of that).
